Information for Prospective Members: Act, Direct, Be Involved.... Want to act, direct or otherwise be involved in the fascinating world of theatre? Then maybe you should become a member of our company. Before you do, here is some information about being a member so you know what you are letting yourself in for! Membership Benefits.... As a financial member you will receive our 'Focus on Phoenix' newsletter approximately once a quarter which outlines the upcoming activities of the group. From there it's largely up to you to respond to the various notices or other cries for help to get involved! Membership also entitles you to one fully transferable free ticket to each of our 3 major productions in the year at the Zenith Theatre. The idea is that you bring at least one paying customer with you to the show! Audition Information.... Just want to get on stage in a major production? Well, you should be aware that auditions for roles in our major productions are open to anyone and are advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald, so there is a fair bit of competition. However, as a member: - you can be sure to receive advance notice of upcoming auditions. - all other things being equal, an existing member will be cast over a newcomer. Backstage.... There are plenty of opportunities to be involved with other aspects of theatre such as stage management and backstage work, lighting and sound, costumes, set-building, publicity and production management and we try to give new members plenty of training and support. The Fine Print.... It is a condition of membership that you help with front-of-house duties (ushering & selling programmes) at one or more performances of a major production at the Zenith each year. This is actually really easy and is a great way to meet other members of the group and see the show. From time to time other duties at the Zenith Theatre, such as clean-ups, will arise and it is expected that members offer their services when they can. Membership Cost.... It's $25 to join and then $20 per year after that. The membership year is a calendar year. Finally, our stated goal is to produce the highest quality non-professional theatre possible. This means we expect a strong commitment from members involved in our shows, but at the same time we are a non-professional community theatre company - we do it for love not money. What to do next?
